Job summary

Haverhill High School, part of Haverhill Public Schools, seeks an Assistant Coach for basketball for the 2026-27 season. You will support the head coach in building a strong team culture, enforcing codes of conduct, and educating student-athletes on basketball rules and strategies.

The role requires prior basketball coaching experience, a valid driver’s license, and First Aid/CPR certification. MIAA coaching certification is preferred; duties include early/late hours and travel with the team.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to advocate the importance of education and school community.
• Successful previous experience as a basketball player or coach
• Basketball coaching experience - preferred
• Valid Driver’s License - required
• First Aid/CPR - required
• MIAA Coaches Certification - preferred

Responsibilities

• Promote by example loyalty, leadership, dedication, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, cooperation and personal responsibility.
• Focus on building a strong culture aligned with core values for the basketball program in the Merrimack Valley Conference.
• Implements codes of conduct for coaches, players, and parents of the HHS basketball team.
• Work the expected hours to include arriving prior to student athlete arrival and departure times.
• Develops appropriate training programs and practice sessions.
• Ensures proper maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms with the Athletic Director.
