Job summary

LAWRENCE FREE STATE HIGH in Lawrence, Kansas, is seeking a Baseball Assistant Boys Coach. The role starts immediately as part of USD 497’s athletics program, with a stipend paid for the season and eligibility requirements including CPR/AED certification and coaching experience.

The assistant coach reports to the head coach, athletic director, and principal, and will support the baseball program through practices, scouting, and game-day duties while upholding district policies.

Qualifications

• Sport-specific participation required.
• Coaching experience preferred.
• Must be CPR/AED certified or willing to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of evaluation procedures used in selecting squad members.
• Enforce all rules of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
• Maintain an accurate squad roster at all times.
• Verify that no candidate is issued equipment or allowed to practice until pre-participation physical exam, insurance release, and forms are completed.
• Supervise practice sessions and maintain locker room security.
• Serve as an advisor to the students on the squad.
• Report injuries to proper school officials per policy.
• Support established school policies and procedures.
• Organize a system for uniform and equipment checkout and ensure accountability at season end.
• Submit practice schedules to administration and office staff.
• Support the head coach and total athletic program of the Lawrence school system.
• Attend all staff meetings called by the head coach.
• Assist with scouting of teams.
• Assist with duties such as drills, equipment handling, eligibility, and statistics.
• Take on duties assigned by the head coach in their absence.
