Job description

Entry-level seasonal coaching position at San Antonio Christian School, San Antonio, TX. Travel up to 50%, seasonal shift. This role requires a coach with knowledge of a specific sport who will plan, coordinate, and supervise all components of their sport program, teaching skills and instilling a faith‑centered mindset in student‑athletes.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical conditioning for individual and team success.
  • Assist in scheduling, reviewing, supervising, adapting, collaborating, developing, and coordinating all athletic games and meets.
  • Generate an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation among teammates.
  • Attend all events for the specified sport as required by the athletic office.
  • Provide training rules and regulations of the sport to all participants, including attending parent meetings.
  • Monitor student grades, behavior, and attendance; determine disciplinary action when team rules are broken.
  • Work closely with coaches, team captains, and student managers.
  • Provide inventory control of all assigned equipment.
  • Assist and work closely with sport software programs as needed.
  • Promote sports within the school.
  • Implement emergency procedures for injured players; ensure properly trained personnel and supplies are present; work with parents to obtain medical clearance before the athlete returns to sports.
  • Handle all correspondence pertaining to athletics positively and respond timely to parent complaints, questions, and requests.
  • Communicate athletic accomplishments and awards to the Athletic Director and announce them via the school newsletter, websites, local newspapers, etc.
  • Perform any other duties that the administration may assign.
Qualifications
  • Pass appropriate TAPPS certifications and commit to adhere to all TAPPS rules and regulations.
  • Possess evidence of adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the Athletics Director.
  • Valid American Red Cross CPR/AED certification.
  • Valid CDL license or willingness to obtain a license.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age and pass a criminal history record check.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Demonstrate good public relations and represent the school favorably to the constituency and public.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion concerning information sharing.
  • Participate in SACS development programs and activities in funding and recruitment/retention.
  • Comply with SACS policies, procedures, and requirements; participate in orientation, in‑services, and coaches' meetings.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity by complying with SACS EEO policies, regulations, and procedures within conservative, orthodox Christianity.
  • Model good attendance and punctuality.
Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Maintain a stationary position and moderate walking.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions; possible exposure to chemicals.
  • Use repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements.
  • Perform stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching, twisting, standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Exercise mobility to move promptly around campus.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Lift or carry up to 30 lbs.
