Job summary

Shenandoah High School is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant High School Track Coach for the 2026-27 school year. You will assist the Head Coach in organizing practices and developing student-athletes' skills across sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, and throws, while fostering a positive, competitive, and safe team environment.

Key duties include pre-meet prep, equipment management, event logistics, and on-field coaching during meets, plus supervising athletes during travel and promoting

Qualifications

• Valid State of Iowa Coaching Authorization or ability to obtain before season.
• Coaching experience in track and field preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with students, parents, staff, and administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in teaching track and field skills and techniques.
• Organize and run daily practices, warm-ups, conditioning.
• Assist with pre-meet preparation, equipment management, event logistics, and on-field coaching during meets.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and travel to ensure safety.
• Promote academic excellence, good sportsmanship, and character development.
