Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a part-time athletic coach at a large public high school who will provide leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction for varsity and junior varsity teams. The role includes enforcing VHSL rules, organizing records, managing equipment, and engaging with students, parents, and the community.

The position requires effective communication, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate with the athletic director to assess program needs and safety

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and maintain a professional environment.
• Understanding of athletic program regulations and VHSL rules.
• Ability to manage individual, group, and organizational interactions while keeping accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in all phases of the game, sport, or activity.
• Work with student athletes to improve personal and teamwork skills.
• Provide guidance to help students profit from participation.
• Maintain compliance with district and VHSL rules and policies.
• Promote a favorable image of the school district and foster community partnerships.
• Collaborate with the athletic director to evaluate program needs.
• Monitor proper use and care of school property and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with team, staff, parents, administration, community, and media.
• Handle financial items for the athletic program, including equipment purchases and fees collection.
• Participate in athletic department fund-raisers and complete VHSL forms as required.
• Organize and maintain records, health and safety forms, insurance information, and statistics.
