Job summary

Cardwell is seeking an HS Campus Academic Specialist to support the principal in improving instruction and coaching teachers in planning, data analysis, and intervention strategies. This role focuses on MTSS, TEKS alignment, and district curriculum implementation at Irving ISD.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of literacy, instructional techniques, and professional development leadership, with experience in coaching and mentoring teachers across campus.

Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred.
• Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate required or eligible.
• Bachelor's degree preferred for the role.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct weekly planning meetings with grade level/department teams to guide content focus and interventions.
• Serve as instructional coach; model lessons, co-teach, and observe classroom instruction with timely feedback.
• Visit classrooms regularly to observe instruction and provide feedback on strengths/areas for growth.
• Lead department planning to align resources with TEKS and district curriculum.
• Assist teachers with differentiation and locating resources for differentiated instruction.
• Ensure teachers understand TEKS and design lessons aligned with district curriculum.
• Mentor new teachers and those new to campus/district; support professional development.
• Prepare reports using data systems to address TEKS and spiraling needs; support differentiation techniques.
• Attend professional development and Academic Specialist meetings to learn and share best practices.
• Collaborate with data teams to identify campus strengths/weaknesses and address needs.

Education

Master's Degree Preferred

Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate

Bachelor degree preferred
