Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center in Missouri is seeking a bedside RN for the High-Risk Cardiology unit. You will provide direct patient care on a 12-hour shift, collaborate with physicians and interprofessional staff, and support patients with complex cardiac care.
The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, care coordination from ED to ambulatory settings, and professional growth through the BJC Career Ladder.
Our High-Risk Cardiology unit is vital to the flow of patients being admitted from the ED, CCU, admitting, procedural areas, other units within the hospital, and even outside hospitals. Our 32-bed unit is covered by Hospitalist Attendings with a cardiology consult. Together, they collaborate closely to care for a variety of cardiac illness including CAD, HTN, Chest Pain, Pacemaker/ICD implants and malfunctions, Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Valve Disease, and Pulmonary Hypertension. Our nurses obtain BLS, ACLS, and extensive EKG certifications.

Focus will be on high risk cardiology units where you will find many exciting challenges and opportunities for learning. Many of the patients that you will care for require advanced medication infusions and post cardiac procedure care. Our team consists of registered nurses, patient/student nurse technicians, and housestaff of residents, interns and other medical professionals.
Under the direction of manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of assigned unit as needed.
