Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, seeks a skilled RN to join the High-Risk Cardiology unit, where patients are admitted from the ED, CCU and other areas. You will work with hospitalists and cardiology teams to manage conditions from CAD to heart failure, with extensive EKG certs for staff.

Qualifications

  • RN license required.

  • Educates patients and their families on how to manage illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.

Additional Information About The Role

Our High-Risk Cardiology unit is vital to the flow of patients being admitted from the ED, CCU, admitting, procedural areas, other units within the hospital, and even outside hospitals. Our 32-bed unit is covered by Hospitalist Attendings with a cardiology consult. Together, they collaborate closely to care for a variety of cardiac illness including CAD, HTN, Chest Pain, Pacemaker/ICD implants and malfunctions, Arrhythmias, Heart Failure, Valve Disease, and Pulmonary Hypertension. Our nurses obtain BLS, ACLS, and extensive EKG certifications.

Overview

Many of the patients that you will care for require advanced medication infusions and post cardiac procedure care. Our team consists of registered nurses, patient/student nurse technicians, and housestaff of residents, interns and other medical professionals.

Role Purpose
