Job summary

Withum is seeking a High Net Worth Tax Manager to lead tax engagements and supervise staff across multiple offices, including New Jersey and California. The role emphasizes strong client relationships, tax planning, and collaboration with senior CPAs and partners.

You will work from our New Jersey or West Coast offices and oversee complex returns, research, and tax strategies while mentoring junior staff. A CPA/JD/MS in Taxation and 5+ years of public accounting experience are required.

• Minimum 5 years in a public accounting tax department leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Strong analytical and tax technical skills; excellent client service and communication.

Withum's Tax Services Group is made up of a brilliant team of tax specialists that work to ensure tax reporting obligations are met in an accurate and timely manner and minimize or defer the payment of taxes. Their comprehensive understanding of international, US federal, state, and local regulations, counting our affiliation with HLB international, allows them to help develop economical tax strategies anywhere. Their services include Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, as well as International and Private Client services.

As a High Net Worth Tax Manager based out of our Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, San Diego, CA, Orange County, CA, Whippany, NJ, Princeton, NJ, East Brunswick, NJ, Red Bank, NJ or New York City office, you'll work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known CPAs and industry leaders. In this position, you will take a lead role on all aspects of tax engagements, supervise/mentor staff, and build/maintain relationships with clients.

How you'll spend your time:

• Reviewingindividual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns prepares by tax staff and/or seniors for accuracy
• Researchingand draftingmemorandum involving complex tax matters
• Identifyingand implementingtax planning opportunities
• Handlingand resolvingtax controversies
• Overseeingcomplete tax research projects for a variety of clients and diverse industries
• Managingmultiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines
• Conductingconstructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and providing counsel accordingly
• Servingin professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader

Thekinds ofpeoplewewant totalk tohavemany ofthefollowing:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA license, JD or Masters of Science in Taxation is required
• At least 5 years of prior experience working in the tax department of a public accounting, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to client's management
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, and strong attention to detail
• Ability to travel as needed

The compensation range for this position varies by location. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications. Los Angeles ranges are from $150,000 - $200,000 annually
San Francisco ranges are from $135,000 - $170,000 annually

New Jersey ranges are from $95,000 - $185,000 annually

New York City ranges are from $110,000 - $165,000 annually

Orange County ranges are from $110,000 - $200,000 annually

San Diego Ranges are from $110,000 - $200,000 annually
