Orting School District is seeking a High Needs Paraeducator for Ptarmigan Ridge Elementary School to assist with life skills instruction and related student services under certificated staff supervision.
Position requires a HS diploma or equivalent, with preferred AA degree or higher, strong communication, and ability to implement instructional supports; 180-day year, 6.5 hours/day, 8:45 am–3:45 pm. DOE salary ranges apply with step increases.
High Needs Paraeducator Resource Support Program JobID: 1268
DESCRIPTION:Work under the supervision of certificated staff in the Life Skills classroom to provide instructional or other appropriate services to students.
REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following requirements to move forward in the screening process:
Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
(a) Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment; or
(b) Hold an associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
(c) Have earned seventy-two quarter credits or forty-eight semester credits at the one hundred level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
(d) Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeshipand Training Council.
QUALIFICATIONS:
PERFORMANCE, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PREFERRED candidates will have experience working with students in a school classroomsetting.
REPORTS TO: Instructor and principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Year 180 days per year (plus paid holidays that fall within the work year calendar)
Hours 6.5 hours paid per day plus half-hour unpaid duty-free lunch
Schedule 8:45 am - 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday
Salary 2026-27PSE Salary Schedule A *
High Needs Paraeducator I ($27.40 - $30.31 DOE)
High Needs Paraeducator III* ($30.64 - $33.73 DOE)
