Job summary

Strategic Focus Educational Services in Duncanville, TX is seeking tutors for High Impact Tutors (ELA & Math) to help students reach reading and overall growth. Tutors will work with small groups (3–5) and follow predefined lesson plans to provide engaging learning activities.

You will supervise groups, monitor attendance, and assess progress while collaborating with parents and staff. A high school diploma and ability to pass a background check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Be 18 years old and able to pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
• Content knowledge of tutoring subject areas assigned.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills with all constituents.
• Ability to work collaboratively with many external partners including parents, students and program site staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tutoring sessions with small groups using pre-defined curriculum.
• Provide a safe, caring and enriching environment for groups of children participating in an in-school and/or afterschool program.
• Assist with supervision and engagement of students in youth development and activities.
• As assigned, supervise, safety and grouping of students, including attendance procedures.
• Keep a consistent headcount of all students and communicate changes to staff.
• Support Literacy Program Supervisor to facilitate activities during literacy programming.
• Submit session Sign-In Sheets to the Program Lead as designated by policy.
• Communicate with students in an age-appropriate way and assess progress weekly.
• Collect 3 work samples of tutoring sessions per week.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

High Impact Tutors – (English Language Arts & Math) will assist with providing students with appropriate learning activities and experience designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Tutors will be aligned to work with small groups (3 to 5) of students at a time to improve their reading skills. Hours will depend on which programs and tutor’s preference.

Purpose Statement:

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties:

• As assigned, be responsible for assisting the Site Lead or other program personnel with the supervision, safety and grouping of students at all times, including arrival and departure procedures and taking attendance.
• Keep a consistent headcount of all students present and immediately communicate any changes with all other staff.
• Work with the Literacy Program Supervisor to facilitate established plan for appropriate activities during literacy programming
• Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions with students using pre-defined curriculum
• Submit session Sign-In Sheets to the Program Lead as designated by program policy
• Communicate and interact with students in an age and developmentally appropriate way.
• Assess student’s continual progress from week to week in the program.
• Collect 3 work samples of your student sessions per week of tutoring.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
