Job summary

Leidos Inc. is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support a high-visibility, data-driven analytics and reporting application. You will build and maintain core backend services, develop RESTful APIs, and contribute to system enhancements within a Linux-based environment.

The role offers opportunity to impact mission stakeholders with visibility at senior levels and to grow expertise in backend design, API development, and scalable systems across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with relevant work experience.
• US Citizenship and active TS/SCI with polygraph ability is required.
• Proven experience developing object‑oriented applications in Java or Python.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• SQL and relational database experience; Linux-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Backend development: design, develop, test, and maintain backend components in Java or Python.
• Develop and maintain RESTful services to support application functionality and integrations.
• Apply object-oriented design principles for scalable systems.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval.
• Collaborate with data sources and teams to integrate data into backend systems.
• Develop and troubleshoot applications in Linux environments.
• Implement backend logic for data transformation and workflows.
• Identify and fix defects and performance issues.
• Follow coding standards and participate in code reviews.
