Job summary

Kord, a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR, specializes in advanced HEL technologies and supports DoD programs from development to fielding of laser weapon systems. The High Energy Laser Systems Technician role focuses on hands-on assembly, integration, testing, maintenance, and field support of complex laser systems and subsystems.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Laser/Electro-Optical Technology, or related technical discipline with 2+ years of hands-on experience.
• In lieu of degree a high school diploma with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with hardware assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, and testing.
• Experience with electrical systems, power distribution, thermal management, or industrial equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and technical docs.
• Experience using electrical/mechanical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
• Strong troubleshooting and ability to work in lab, manufacturing, and field environments.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, integrate, and maintain High Energy Laser system hardware and subsystems.
• Support production, hardware builds, inspections, configuration management, and process docs.
• Install, route, terminate, and troubleshoot electrical wiring and interfaces.
• Assemble and integrate power distribution, energy storage, and thermal management equipment.
• Perform system-level and subsystem-level integration for laser, power, cooling, controls, and support equipment.
• Execute test procedures and support developmental, qualification, acceptance, and operational testing.
• Operate test equipment to collect and document performance data.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, thermal, and laser system issues; support root causes.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on lab, production, and fielded equipment.
• Support environmental testing, field demos, customer events, and exercises.
• Assist engineers with hardware modifications, prototype development, and technical documentation.
• Ensure safety, laser safety, quality standards, and program procedures are followed.
• Travel as required for integration, field testing, and customer demos.
