Job summary

LEGO Group in Virginia is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician to maintain and optimize highly automated warehouse systems. You will work with Operations, Engineering, and suppliers to maximize reliability, safety, and throughput.

The role requires an associate degree or technical certification, PLC troubleshooting skills, and ability to travel internationally up to three weeks annually. A 12-hour shift with a 2-2-3 schedule and hybrid work arrangement is supported.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in a related field.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated equipment in manufacturing or warehouse settings.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and equipment documentation.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to three weeks annually.
  • Must obtain safety certifications (LOTO, CPR, First Aid).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated warehouse systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and robotics systems.
  • Diagnose issues using PLC software, HMIs, and technical drawings.
  • Document actions in CMMS and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor maintenance team members and support TPM, Lean, and Six Sigma activities.
  • Support installation, commissioning, testing, and startup of equipment.

Job DescriptionThe Automation Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes highly automated warehouse systems supporting LEGO Manufacturing Virginia. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, and equipment suppliers, this role maximizes equipment reliability, safety, and performance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, robotics, and automation systems.Diagnose equipment issues using PLC software, HMIs, industrial networks, electrical schematics, and manufacturer documentation.Optimize equipment settings to improve reliability, performance, and reduce downtime.Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), PDCA, and other structured problem-solving methods to eliminate recurring failures.Document maintenance activities and corrective actions within the CMMS.Support equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and startup activities.Partner with Engineering, Operations, suppliers, and OEMs to implement sustainable equipment improvements.Train and mentor maintenance team members while supporting continuous improvement, TPM, Lean, and Six Sigma initiatives.Maintain compliance with all LEGO safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and participate in required technical and safety training.Starting Hourly Rate: $36.85Minimum QualificationsAssociate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanics, Electronics, Mechanics, or a related technical field.Experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated industrial equipment in manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or similar environments.Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems.Previous experience in reading electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment documentation.Must be able to safely work at heights up to 40 meters (131 feet). Required training, including heights rescue training, will be provided.Must travel internationally up to three consecutive weeks, one to two times annually, for training, commissioning, or technical support.Required to obtain required safety certifications (LOTO, CPR, First Aid).Required to work a fixed 12-hour day or night shift on a 2-2-3 schedule, including weekends and holidays.Preferred QualificationsFive or more years of experience supporting highly automated manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling systems.Experience with ASRS, conveyors, robotics, AMRs, AGVs, or similar automation technologies.Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or comparable PLC platforms.Experience troubleshooting VFDs, servo systems, industrial networks, and automated controls.Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Experience serving as a technical mentor or lead technician.Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, Electromechanics, or a related technical discipline.#LVA1CompensationThe salary for this position has a range of $36.85 - $36.85 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints.
