POSITION: HHHEC23220 – Head Dance Coach
LOCATION: Horse Heaven Hills Middle School
Goals and Responsibilities
- Carry out the objectives of the sports program as outlined by the athletic director.
- Fulfill administrative, program coordination, and developmental duties, including creating practice plans and schedules, tracking athlete attendance, communicating with parents, and supervising athletes during practices and performances.
- Instruct participants in individual, group, and team techniques, tactics, and physical training necessary for success.
- Implement teaching and coaching philosophies consistent with the Kennewick School District and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association mission statements.
Required Qualifications
- Current First Aid/CPR cards and knowledge of related preventative health and training standards.
- Meet and maintain coaching standards as determined by the Kennewick School District and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 or have an approved exemption.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated short‑ and long‑term organization and management skills.
- Three current recommendations.
- Evidence of being a positive role model.
- Clearly defined coaching philosophy for the applied level.
- Coaching experience in dance.
- Evidence of effective public relations.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate with students, parents, assistant coaches, administrators, and community members.
- Evidence of WIAA certification and compliance with WIAA and district rules and regulations.
Physical Demands
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods; push or pull 18–26 lbs.; sit, kneel, crouch, twist, and bend; use hands to type, handle, and reach with hands and arms.
- Talk, hear, and communicate effectively in person and over the telephone; taste and smell; and satisfy vision requirements including close, far, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as focus adjustment.
- Lift or move 10–26 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs.; lift overhead; and be able to move quickly in emergencies or while supervising students.
- Work outdoors in a wide temperature range, from –10°F to 100°F, with potential wet or humid conditions and moderate noise levels.
