Job summary

Dennis Eagle in the UK is seeking an experienced Workshop Chargehand to join our Witham Service Centre. This role blends hands-on HGV maintenance with leading workshop operations, coordinating workloads and ensuring safety and high quality standards.

You will work closely with the Workshop Controller to keep vehicles serviced and repaired efficiently, while promoting DVSA compliance, safe practices and a positive team environment. A City & Guilds Level 3 and a valid HGV licence are required.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or similar commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of DVSA regulations and workshop compliance requirements.
• City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification.
• HGV licence.
• A proactive approach and a commitment to quality and safety.
• The ability to support and motivate others within a busy workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGV and refuse collection vehicles.
• Fault finding and diagnostics across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• MOT preparation and chassis/body repairs.
• Supporting the organisation and day-to-day running of the workshop.
• Promoting safe working practices and excellent housekeeping standards.
• Ensuring work is completed to DVSA and company standards.
