Job summary

Hanger, Inc. seeks a Sr Fabrication Specialist in Phoenix, AZ to fabricate orthoses and prostheses, ensuring maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship.

The role requires staying current with fabrication techniques, material properties, and using appropriate lab equipment to deliver high-quality devices. Responsibilities include producing and repairing devices per specifications, training new staff, maintaining safety and 5S principles, and supporting inventory and scheduling activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 4 years' related experience OR
• Without a high school diploma/GED, 6 years' experience in O&P environments including machinery and fabrication OR
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school with 7 years' related experience.
• Substantial understanding of orthotics and prosthetics fabrication and repair.
• Ability to complete general devices from start to finish with multiple components.
• Strong problem solving, planning and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices according to quality standards.
• Handle ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Maintain 5S for a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
• Adhere to OSHA and safety regulations.

The Sr. Fabrication Specialist fabricates the orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The Sr. Fabrication Specialist is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.

Your Impact

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
• Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Maintain 5s to ensure for a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
• Train new employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

• High School Diploma or GED and 4 years' of related experience OR
• Without a high school diploma/GED, 6 years' experience working within O&P environments that include: machinery, tools, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. OR
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school and 7 years' related experience.

Additional Success Factors

• Substantial understanding of the job and applies Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to specifications.
• Ability to independently complete all General Orthotic or Prosthetic devices from start to finish from provided instructions with more than two different types of componentry (Expert in either Orthotics or Prosthetic Devices).
• As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways.
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. May be informal team leader.
• Be a facilitator of continuous improvement by helping improve process within their team's workflows. (i.e. suggest new tools, safety measures, improve orders and helps sustain 5s.)
• Work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understand implications of the work and makes recommendations for solutions.
• Ability to problem solve. Adept at identifying problems, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions quickly.
• Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
• Effective organizational, time management and planning skills.
• Good interpersonal and verbal skills for communicating with others.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Ability to perform tasks as indicated on following Skills Matrix.
• Ability to triage work instructions and work orders to communicate to the clinician for corrections, while maintaining focus on the patient.

• Understand quality and implementing quality and safety standards
• Expert in either Orthotics or Prosthetic Devices.
• Train new employees when needed in areas of expertise.
• Work independently to develop methods and procedures for new assignments and communicates them effectively to the Sr. Supervisor.
• Support scheduling activities and the quality engineer with NCR's, CAPA's and QC returns.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member.
