Department: 35603 Atrium Health Cabarrus - Dialysis Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule Details/Additional Information: 3 12 hour shift per week. Pay Range: $20.80 - $31.20

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of dialysis initiation using a variety of equipment necessary for hemodialysis delivery.
  • Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during and after hemodialysis procedure.
  • Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings to nurse
  • Assists Registered Nurse in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment, and termination of treatment; assists with all aspects of room/bay turnover.
  • Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
  • Attends in-services/staff meetings; exhibits knowledge of current department related issues and participates in Performance Improvement Process.
  • Participates in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.
  • Documents in the EMR within their scope of practice
  • Provides total patient care including, but not limited to, hygiene, toileting and nutrition while under the care of the dialysis team
  • Maintains disinfection and routine maintenance of the dialysis machine and reverse osmosis water delivery system.
  • Alert nursing leader/certified biomedical technicians immediately of any unexpected outcomes
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must speak English in good, understandable terms.
  • Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity.
  • Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
  • Physical Abilities Testing required.
  • Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
  • Vision and hearing for distances of up to twenty 20 feet is required, depth perception and must meet the necessary requirements of Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED required. BLS required per policy guidelines. Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician or 1 year of acute hospital experience required.
