Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a molecular pathologist to join the Hematopathology division. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in molecular genetic testing, including NGS and PCR for oncologic diseases, along with proficiency in chromosome analysis and FISH testing.

Qualified candidates should hold an MD/DO and/or PhD with ABPath MGPath or ABMGG LGG certification. Exemption status is in effect; schedule is Full Time with 80 hours per pay period.

Responsibilities

The Division of Hematopathology is seeking an expert in molecular pathology to join our practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in molecular genetic testing, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) and PCR for the evaluation of oncologic diseases, chromosome analysis, and FISH testing. Experience in development and validation of LDTs, implementing and monitoring QA and QC, and interpretation of laboratory results in a clinical setting is desired. Particular expertise in onboarding NGS service offerings, workflow optimization and troubleshooting, and familiarity with sequencing platforms is highly valued. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in research and departmental educational programs. Preference will be given to candidates who have at least five years’ experience post-ABMGG or ABPath molecular genetic pathology fellowship, and those who have worked as an acting laboratory director in a high-complexity clinical molecular laboratory.

The Hematologic Malignancies program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona offers expert patient care and research in all areas of hematology with emphasis on plasma cell disorders, myeloproliferative disorders, lymphoma, and stem cell transplantation. The Division of Hematopathology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona currently includes eight members who are responsible for the diagnostic evaluation of peripheral blood, body fluid, bone marrow, and lymph node specimens from a primarily adult patient population. The group has diverse expertise and interests in all aspects of diagnostic Hematopathology, as well as scholarly activities, including grant funded research and teaching in the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Arizona.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have an MD/DO and/or PhD and must be either ABPath board-certified in Molecular Genetic Pathology or ABMGG board-certified in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or Molecular Genetic Pathology.
