Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston seeks a full-time Academic Hematopathologist to join Harvard Medical School faculty at an instructor/assistant/associate level. The role emphasizes diagnostic excellence in hematopathology, collaboration with molecular pathology, and participation in teaching and scholarly activity across residents, fellows, and medical students.

The successful candidate will hold an MD, be board-certified in Pathology (AP or AP/CP), and obtain MA license if needed;

Qualifications

  • MD from an accredited medical school; Massachusetts medical license or ability to obtain one.
  • Board certification in Pathology (AP or AP/CP) required.
  • Strong diagnostic skills in Hematopathology, including tissue histomorphology and flow cytometry.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to diagnostic excellence and the department's academic mission.
  • Collaborate with molecular pathologists, cytogeneticists and oncologists to support precision oncology and clinical trials.
  • Teach and mentor fellows, residents and medical students.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and academic leadership within Hematopathology.

The successful candidate will be appointed to the full-time faculty of Harvard Medical School at an academic rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor) commensurate with experience. Both recent fellowship graduates and mid-career/senior physicians are strongly encouraged to apply.As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Pathology provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations.
