Job description

Summary

The VA Vermont Health Care System is seeking a PT Oncology/Hematology Physician to work 36 hours per week at the White River Junction VA Medical Center within the Specialty Care Service Line.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be tentatively referred but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met previous qualification standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
  • Degree of MD or equivalent from an approved school
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
  • Completion of approved residency training leading to eligibility for board certification
  • English proficiency
  • Board Certified Hematologist/Oncologist preferred
  • Physical and mental requirements including light lifting, use of fingers, walking, standing, rapid coordination, color discrimination, hearing, stability
Duties

Responsibilities include maintaining clinical skills, providing effective patient care, supervising physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and participating in teaching and oversight activities. The physician will provide inpatient and outpatient care, administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and supervise procedures like bone marrow biopsies.

Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
