Hematology & Medical Oncology Opportunity- Western, NC

Caldwell UNC Health is the choice for health care in Caldwell County. The Emergency Department sees approximately 30,000+ visits a year. UNC Physicians Network provides primary and select specialty care from thirteen medical park locations throughout the county. Our 137-bed licensed hospital is part of the UNC Health System.

We are seeking a personable and engaging hematology/oncology physician to join our team!

Position Features:

1. Office location at McCreary Cancer Center, a Service of UNC Hospitals: 212 Mulberry Street SW, Lenoir, NC & 160 River Bend Drive, Granite Falls, NC
2. Full-time position with a minimum of 36 patient contact hours per week
3. Shared evening and weekend call (virtual, not requiring on-site presence) every 5 weeks
4. Collaborative team including one Hem/Onc physician, three APPs, a Radiation Oncologist, and over 40 support staff
5. 16,313 sq ft Cancer Center with advanced facilities including a Linear Accelerator, CT Simulation, Infusion, Pharmacy, Lab, and supportive services, plus a 3,500 sq ft satellite facility
6. Established in 2006, serving Caldwell County and beyond, with offices located on two ends of the county to reduce patient travel
7. Growing practice with an additional provider needed; caseloads expected to be 15-20 patients per day per provider
8. Consistently ranked in the 99th percentile for patient satisfaction
9. On-site infusion services requiring supervision, pharmacy for sterile compounding, and lab for quick results
10. Bi-weekly Tumor Boards for multidisciplinary collaboration
11. Clinical responsibilities include outpatient, inpatient, and ED consults. Approximately 10% of time dedicated to program development, focusing on clinical trials access in collaboration with UNC Lineberger, care streamlining, patient-centered and evidence-based oncology care, and community provider collaboration to retain patients within the service area.
