Qualifications

  • Must be board certified in Hematology/Oncology with a Texas license.
  • Minimum 24 months experience required in an academic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients primarily in an outpatient setting with some inpatient consults.
  • Perform bone marrow biopsies and consultative hematology and oncology cases.

Job description

Hematology Oncology - 2 Weeks Monthly, No Call, AI Scribe Support

Join a leading Texas institution in a long-term Locums Hem/Onc assignment with no call, AI charting support, and consistent scheduling.

Highlights

Practice Setting

  • Primarily outpatient with some inpatient consults
  • University of Texas Medical Branch Health (UTMB)
  • Fellows manage their own patients under supervision
  • APP, RN, and MA support
  • Academic environment with opportunity to teach and collaborate
  • EPIC with AI Scribe (DAX Copilot & Ambient AI) for hands-free charting

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
  • First patient at 9a, last scheduled by 4:30p
  • 2 weeks per month, ongoing (alternating weeks)
  • Assignment expected to extend beyond September

Procedures and Cases

  • 60% Hematology / 40% Oncology, mostly consultative
  • Bone marrow biopsies required (no transplants)
  • Acute leukemias and BMT cases referred to Houston
  • 12 infusion chairs adjacent to clinic

Requirements

  • Board certified in Hematology/Oncology
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Texas license or active IMLC LOQ
  • Minimum 24 months experience
  • Must be comfortable working with fellows and in an academic setting

Credentialing and Travel

  • Credentialing: ~60 days
  • Travel and lodging provided
