Job description

Tremendous opportunity for a Hematologist-Oncologist with transplant experience to join an Autologous Transplant Program, including Cellular Therapy and CAR-T immune therapies, as well as solid tumor CAR-T trials.

Practice Overview:

The transplant program is based at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, a 900+ bed tertiary medical center, flagship teaching hospital, with comprehensive residencies and fellowships. It is now part of Jefferson and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. The program will be overseen by Dr. Usama Gergis, MD, MBA, Director of Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy, and Professor of Oncology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia.

Set Up for Success:

1. New 22-bed Hematology/Oncology Unit with protected environment, positive pressure, HEPA-filtered rooms for optimal transplant and hematologic malignancy care.
2. 100% OCN Certified Nursing; one of only 23 U.S. hospitals to receive Magnet recognition five times from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
3. Referral access to 32 Hematology/Oncology physicians within the Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute, including a malignant hematology inpatient service with subspecialists and dedicated APCs experienced in transplant and CAR-T therapies.
4. Approximately 7,000 new analytic cancer cases annually, serving a population of over 1 million.
5. Nine Hematology/Oncology Fellows in training, with dedicated APC support.
6. Blood banking support, including experience supporting a bone marrow transplant program.
7. Full ICU support, including 24/7 Neuro ICU, Medical ICU, largest Emergency Room in the state, and organized medical specialties to support the program.
8. Access to over 150 clinical trials, including NCI Cooperative Group trials, MSKCC trials, and extensive Immuno-Oncology trials with pharmaceutical partners.
9. Recognized quality team, navigation, and clinical trials programs, acknowledged nationally for academic community hospitals.
