Job Title: BWH Staff Nurse Ambulatory

Hours: 30 Hours, Day Shift, Variable, Main Campus Boston site

Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Has broad knowledge of anticoagulation management and hematologic disorders. Collaborates in health care education within the division.
  • Responsible for routine nursing aspects of the anticoagulation program: clinical care, monitoring, documentation, follow-up. Acts as liaison between providers to ensure continuity and collaborative care.
  • Manage anticoagulation therapy under approved guidelines, including warfarin dose adjustments, peri-operative plans, responding to critical labs, and patient education.
  • Use protocols and algorithms to adjust dosing based on INR results, manage anticoagulation during illnesses and surgeries, and educate patients.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the DFCI AMS program, acting as primary nursing contact and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Research Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in study design and identify suitable ongoing studies.
  • Inform and assess patients for protocols, ensure informed consent, and administer medications per protocols.
  • Monitor for adverse reactions, exercise judgment in emergencies, and communicate with physicians.
