Yale New Haven Health is seeking an entry-level clinical laboratory professional to perform a wide range of laboratory tests with accuracy and timeliness. You will maintain quality assurance standards, operate complex instrumentation, and collaborate with team members across shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Perform a wide variety of laboratory techniques, including moderate to highly complex tests.
  • Independently operate instrumentation and benches.
  • Safe operation of department equipment per guidelines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot instrument failures.
  • Assist with training new employees.
  • Assist with specimen processing and inventory management.
  • Meet continuing education requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to competency and career growth.
  • Perform routine tests and QC procedures.
  • Cover other lab sections as needed to assure efficient operations.

Performs a wide range of clinical laboratory testing in an accurate and timely fashion by utilizing technical and problem-solving skills in conjunction with a thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory principles. Maintains effective communications and transfers testing and pending follow-ups between employees and shifts following all CHAMP and HRO standards. Maintains all Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards at all times. Maintains operational effectiveness and assumes full responsibility for continuing education requirements, licensure, and expertise to adapt as needed to an expanding department with increased testing complexity.

Responsibilities

  • 12. Participates in activities that demonstrate professionalism, a commitment to competency and career growth.
  • 13. Performs a variety of routine tests and procedures, performs instrument maintenance procedures, perform routine quality control procedures.
  • 14. Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficient operations of department, including covering other lab sections.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

BS Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or equivalent ASCP eligible or equivalent

Physical Demand

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
