Job summary

Jackson Physician Search is recruiting on behalf of a major nonprofit health system in Illinois to lead a new Cellular Therapies & Hematologic Malignancies Division. The role will build a 4-hematology group and oversee clinical, research, and academic activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the new Cellular Therapies & Hematologic Malignancies Division and build a 4-physician hematology group.
  • Guide the division through FACT accreditation, with potential expansion into cellular therapies.
  • Balance clinical, trials, and administrative duties with protected time (3 clinical and 2 admin days)
  • Lead Phase 1 & 2 trials with access to 500+ trials through the system's research partnership.
  • Collaborate with research nurses, regulatory and data teams to support trial activities.

Job description

This award-winning regional non-profit health system is launching a groundbreaking 25-oncologist/hematology program, fueled by billion-dollar philanthropic investment and a collaboration with the University of Illinois system. They are now building a Cellular Therapies & Hematologic Malignancies Division and seeking an experienced Hematologist to lead it.

The Highlights:
  • Lead the new division as its own service line and build a group of 4 hematologists
  • Guide the division through FACT accreditation, with optional expansion into cellular therapies
  • Protected time: 3 clinical and 2 admin days, or 60% clinical with 1 day for trials and 1 for admin
  • Key role in Phase 1 & 2 trials, with access to 500+ trials through the system's research partnership
  • Research nurses handle about 90% of research work, backed by regulatory and data teams
  • Optional academic appointment, basic science lab access, and partnership with the University of Illinois system, the largest medical school in the US
  • Dedicated inpatient oncology unit and oncology hospitalist
  • H1B and O1 visas considered
Compensation & Benefits:
