Job description

We are hiring immediately for full‑time HELPER COOK positions. This role is based at Arlington Catholic High School, 16 Medford Street, Arlington, MA 02474. The schedule is full time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:45 PM. Previous food service experience in a fast‑paced environment is required. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $20.00 per hour. Internal employee referral bonus is available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read menu to estimate food requirements and order or procure food from suppliers or storage.
• Prepare and cook food according to production records and standardized recipes.
• Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods under guidance. Add seasoning during mixing or cooking under instruction of others.
• Test food by tasting, smelling and piercing to determine doneness.
• Carve meat, portion food on serving plates, and add gravies, sauces and garnishes to fill orders as directed.
• Wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables.
• Butcher chicken, fish and shellfish as directed.
• Bake bread, rolls, cakes and pastries as course of instruction permits.
• Maintain work area and equipment; follow sanitation and safety principles in handling food.
• Interact with customers and coworkers courteously, efficiently and friendly.
• Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
