Job summary

Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) is seeking an experienced Multi-Site Helper C to support multiple residential properties throughout Chicago, IL. This position entails keeping properties clean, safe, and well-maintained while assisting with basic maintenance and emergency needs.

Regular travel between HHDC properties is required. Full-time role with a 40-hour workweek; pay rate is $22.82 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous janitorial or maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Basic plumbing and mechanical knowledge.
• Must provide personal hand tools.
• Willing to travel between Chicago properties.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required.
• Must maintain union certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans hallways, common areas, vacant units, offices, parking areas, sidewalks, and alleyways.
• Maintains property exteriors through lawn care, snow removal, window cleaning, leaf blowing, trash pickup, and sanitation.
• Performs light maintenance, including basic plumbing and appliance troubleshooting.
• Assists with painting, replacing light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and other minor repairs.
• Reports maintenance concerns, property damage, and safety issues immediately.
• Safely operates cleaning equipment, lawn machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
• Transports tools, equipment, and supplies between properties.
• Assists at multiple HHDC properties as assigned.
• Participates in emergency/on-call duties as required.

Schedule & Compensation

Full-Time: 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Pay Rate: $22.82 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong customer service, organization, and communication skills.
• Must provide required personal hand tools.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid insurance, and a safe driving record.
• Must be willing to travel between multiple Chicago properties.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills may be required.
• Must maintain union certifications as required.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement between HHDC and SEIU Local 1.
