Job summary

Wood is seeking Carpenter Helpers to join our team in Houston, Texas. The role involves reading and applying information from orders and drawings, safely using power and hand tools, and handling materials in piping and concrete work.

You will assist in building forms, setting up scaffolds, and performing related carpentry tasks on site. Strong safety awareness and the ability to follow crane signals, use equipment correctly, and interpret blueprints are essential for this hands-on construction

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, ISO’s or drawings; recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols.
  • Identify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools.
  • Know materials used in piping systems and proper material handling techniques.
  • Select and safely use equipment including manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe rigging practices.
  • Identify crane hand signals and perform concrete formwork and bracing.
  • Demonstrate ability to cut, bend, install and tie rebar; anchor bolts.
  • Pouring and finishing concrete and recognizing properly built scaffolds.
  • Handle epoxy grouts and measure materials with tape, square, or rule.
  • Cut and fit boards, timbers, or plywood; assemble and fasten frameworks.
  • Anchor and brace forms with nails, bolts, anchor rods, cables, and timbers.
  • Mark cutting lines with pencil and scriber; bore holes with a power drill.

Wood is currently sourcing for Carpenter Helpers to join our team in Houston, Texas. U.S. Only: Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately interpret and applyinformation from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints,ISO’s or other drawings and recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application
  • Identify, recognize anddemonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for thejob
  • Recognize various materials usedin piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques
  • Select and safely use appropriateequipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, forklifts, andcompany trucks
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skillsin safe rigging practices
  • Identify, explain and performcrane hand signals
  • Demonstrate ability to properlybuild and brace concrete forms using various systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to cut,bend, install and tie rebar
  • Demonstrate ability to anchor bolts
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in pouring and finishing concrete
  • Demonstrate knowledge and abilityto recognize a correctly built scaffold
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skillsin the handling and application of Epoxy grouts
  • Measure materials or distances, using square, measuring tape, or rule to lay outwork
  • Cut or saw boards, timbers, or plywood to required size, using handsaw, powersaw, or woodworking machine
  • Assembleand fasten material together to construct wood or metal framework ofstructure, using bolts, nails, or screws
  • Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchorrods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers
  • Markcutting lines on materials, using pencil and scriber
  • Bore bolt holes in timber, masonry or concrete walls, using power drill
