Job summary

Miami County Public Health (MCPH) seeks a Family and Child Development Home Visitor to support prenatal through age three families. You will conduct regular home visits, provide education, and guide parents in child development using the Help Me Grow framework.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) with experience, and you must obtain the Help Me Grow Home Visitor Credential within one year. A criminal background check and Ohio driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in human services or related field; Bachelor's with 1 year experience acceptable.
• Help Me Grow Home Visitor Credential within the first year of employment.
• Criminal background check and Ohio central registry background check required.
• Valid Ohio driver's license with own vehicle and insurability requirements met.

Responsibilities

• Provide family support, information and education, developmental instruction and follow program goals.
• Provide regular home visits to enrolled Help Me Grow families with children from prenatal up to three years.
• Plan for each visit and teach effective parenting and child development skills.
• Provide parents with information on disciplining, behavior management, household management, communication and relationship enhancement when needed.
• Utilize curriculum and evidence-based models when providing services to families; conduct developmental screenings.
• Coordinate with other service providers and participate in program activities, documentation and CQI efforts.
