Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

At Help for Heroes, we help the Armed Forces community live well after service. We support veterans, their relatives, serving personnel, and people who worked alongside the UK military with their physical and mental health needs, and a range of welfare issues. Our support gives people the skills, confidence and knowledge to make a success of life after service.

We are looking for a highly skilled, professional, and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Very Seriously Injured (VSI) service. Are you a committed, flexible OT with a minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience looking to expand your skills? Ideally, you have experience or an interest in brain injuries. If you could work independently but still enjoy having the support of a team, you could contribute your skills and experience to improve quality of life. Are you happy to embrace a flexible work pattern as the position will involve frequent travel to meet veterans in their own homes and communities? The role includes organisational commitments such as inductions, training and team meetings which require some overnight stays. Experience in working with complex needs, particularly brain injury and stroke rehabilitation, is beneficial.

About the Role

You will have the opportunity to work with veterans and their families in their homes and local communities, supporting them with physical and mental health needs. By managing your own caseload under the VSI Complex Case Manager, you will identify barriers affecting veterans’ ability to be as independent as possible. You will be assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating Occupational Therapy interventions for those who have served our country, improving the quality of life of our Heroes. This role would be ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career and be at the forefront of evidence-based practice in a supportive team.

You will engage with the Veterans Mobility Fund (VMF) and utilise your knowledge to ensure appropriate mobility equipment is sourced for our Veteran community.

About the Team

You will be joining the VSI team at Help for Heroes to provide community-based Occupational Therapy input to armed forces veterans. Our aim is to champion the Armed Forces Community as one team of OTs and Registered Nurses. If you feel that you could join a team that is excited, confident and ready for tomorrow’s challenges, this may be the role for you.

What we offer

We proudly support flexible working practices, allowing you to tailor your working day around work and private commitments while maintaining a high standard of delivery to the team and our veterans. We also offer a wide range of benefits such as 29 days paid holiday, enhanced family-friendly packages, and a health cashback plan.
