Job summary

Lifetouch, part of the Shutterfly family, is seeking a Field Technician in Minnesota. You will repair, troubleshoot, assemble, and maintain camera and computer equipment and related systems within the Field Technical Services department.

The role involves phone support for internal customers and collaboration with leads to improve assembly quality. You should have at least two years of electronic schooling, be able to work overtime, and lift up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of electronic schooling or equivalent.
  • Able to work in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Able to work unusual hours at short notice, including overtime.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, trouble-shoots, assembles, tests, modifies, analyzes, and maintains Lifetouch equipment such as camera equipment, computer systems, cables, sport systems, and lighting equipment as well as other miscellaneous equipment supported by the Field Technical Services department.
  • Provides trouble shooting over the phone with Lifetouch internal field customers of Lifetouch camera and computer systems.
  • Works with lead people to ensure proper use of fixtures.
  • Writes process sheets for repairs, and for each assembly or have any assembly notes necessary added to the blueprint.
  • Recognizes problems during assembly and eliminates them using fixtures or other means to correct the problem.
  • May travel to other Lifetouch facilities for equipment installation, repair or training.

What You'll Do Here
  • Repairs, trouble‑shoots, assembles, tests, modifies, analyzes, and maintains Lifetouch equipment such as camera equipment, computer systems, cables, sport systems, and lighting equipment as well as other miscellaneous equipment supported by the Field Technical Services department.
  • Provides trouble shooting over the phone with Lifetouch internal field customers of Lifetouch camera and computer systems.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills, such as knowledge of Windows XP, 7, 10.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
  • Help write process sheets for repairs, and for each assembly or have any assembly notes necessary added to the blueprint.
  • Recognize any problem an assembler or repair person may have during the assembly process and eliminate the problem using fixtures or whatever means necessary to correct the problem. Measured by the smooth problem‑free process of an assembly.
  • Work with lead people to ensure proper use of fixtures.
  • Work with and make suggestions to leads/supervisors that may create higher quality, more functional assemblies.
  • May travel to other Lifetouch facilities for equipment installation, repair or training.
