Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department is seeking a Helicopter Pilot to join their team in Great Bend, Kansas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing medical air transportation services while ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations. Responsibilities include aircraft readiness, documentation, and teamwork with medical experts.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $110,948 – $122,043, bonuses including a $15K sign-on and retention plan totaling $40,000 after three years, alongside benefits like on-duty housing.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Current Rotorcraft FAA Commercial Certificate.
• Helicopter instrument rating is required.
• Must have a Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
• A minimum of 2,000 Total Flight Hours is necessary.
• Must have at least 1,500 Helicopter Hours.
• Requires 1,000 Helicopter PIC Hours.
• Must possess 1,000 Turbine Helicopter Hours.
• 200 Helicopter Night Flight Hours (Aided or Unaided) are needed.

Responsibilities

• Work with medical experts to transport customers safely.
• Ensure aircraft readiness and comply with regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and record keeping.
• Communicate with dispatch, flight crews, and partners.
• Transfer shift change information to the next pilot.
• Maintain required certifications and training.

Salary Range: $110,948 – $122,043 including 25% Geographic Modifier

15K Sign on Bonus, subject to eligibility

Retention Bonus plans ($40,000 after 3 years plus additional retention bonuses once completed)

Responsibilities

• Working with a team of medical experts to safely transport customers to and from locations and facilities
• Ensure aircraft readiness as described in the appropriate manuals, including all FAR and Med-Trans requirements, and aircraft cleanliness duties
• Maintain accurate Med-Trans and regulatory documentation and record keeping
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with dispatch, flight crews, facilities, and partners
• Provide shift change info to successive pilot and team following protocol for recording Med-Trans change board details
• Accountable to maintain required certifications and ongoing training
