The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics invites applications for the Hecht‑Levi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics, a two-year study and experiential learning opportunity beginning September 2027. Qualifications

  • Dissertation defended prior to July 1, 2027.
  • PhD received within three years of the application deadline.

The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics is pleased to invite applications for the Hecht‑Levi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics, a two‑year program of study and experiential learning in bioethics at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. The Program seeks applicants to begin this fellowship in September 2027.

Program Activities
  • Weekly seminars, presentations and discussions with bioethics scholars
  • Individualized research program
  • Bioethics coursework through the Berman Institute’s Master in Bioethics program
  • Mentoring in bioethics
  • Teaching (serve as course director, co‑director, or TA depending on experience and background)
Salary & Benefits
  • $65,000 per year, plus health and other standard benefits available to all post‑doctoral fellows of Johns Hopkins University
  • $2,000 per year for travel/lodging and registration at relevant conferences
Qualifications
  • Doctoral‑level degree in bioethics, philosophy, public health, law, medicine, social science, history or other relevant discipline; dissertation must be defended prior to July 1, 2027
  • Doctoral degree received no more than three years prior to the application deadline
  • Scholarly interest in bioethics
