Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics invites applications for the Hecht‑Levi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics, a two-year study and experiential learning opportunity beginning September 2027. Fellows join weekly seminars, pursue an individualized research plan, and can enroll in the Master in Bioethics program while receiving mentorship and teaching opportunities.

Salary is $65,000 per year with standard Johns Hopkins health benefits, plus $2,000 annually for travel,

Qualifications

• Doctoral-level degree in bioethics or related field.
• Dissertation defended prior to July 1, 2027.
• PhD received within three years of the application deadline.

Responsibilities

• Participate in weekly seminars, presentations and discussions with bioethics scholars.
• Develop an individualized research program in bioethics.
• Engage in teaching activities (course director, co-director, or TA) as appropriate.

The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics is pleased to invite applications for the Hecht‑Levi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics, a two‑year program of study and experiential learning in bioethics at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. The Program seeks applicants to begin this fellowship in September 2027.

Program Activities

• Weekly seminars, presentations and discussions with bioethics scholars
• Individualized research program
• Bioethics coursework through the Berman Institute’s Master in Bioethics program
• Mentoring in bioethics
• Teaching (serve as course director, co‑director, or TA depending on experience and background)

Salary & Benefits

• $65,000 per year, plus health and other standard benefits available to all post‑doctoral fellows of Johns Hopkins University
• $2,000 per year for travel/lodging and registration at relevant conferences

Qualifications

• Doctoral‑level degree in bioethics, philosophy, public health, law, medicine, social science, history or other relevant discipline; dissertation must be defended prior to July 1, 2027
• Doctoral degree received no more than three years prior to the application deadline
• Scholarly interest in bioethics
