Job summary

The Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Instructor of Hebrew beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Hebrew and develop classes that expand our current program offerings.

We seek a native or near-native Hebrew speaker with a Master’s degree in Hebrew or related field and two years of college teaching experience; a PhD is preferred.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native command of Hebrew.
• Strong command of English.
• Master’s degree in Hebrew or related pedagogical field required; PhD preferred.
• Two years of teaching experience at the college level preferred.
• Ability to contribute to LCWA interdisciplinary program.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Hebrew and develop classes that expand current offerings.
• Teach a twelve credit hour load per semester, including at least two Hebrew courses each semester.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary LCWA program and related courses.
