WELDER - HEAVY-1st Shift

Layout (fixture table, build setups), and weld sheet metal and heavy plate fabrications per blueprint. Perform a variety of welding processes including electric resistance, oxyacetylene, short arc, spray (continuous arc weld), stick and Tig welding, silver solder, and cold solder. Welds a variety of materials including alloys and/or carbon steels of various shapes, sizes and thicknesses (1/4” to 6” or more). Operate all required fabrication equipment. Do different welding applications such as handheld welding, manipulator welding, positioner welding. Use a variety of hand power tools and measuring instruments. Will inspect and clean up own work to ensure quality (to include deciphering excess stock on parts).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be well organized and have good communication skills
  2. Must be self-motivated
  3. Must have knowledge in the use of hand tools and power equipment
  4. Must have good attention to detail
  5. Must have good mathematical skills
  6. Must work well as a team player
  7. Must be able to attain ASME welding certifications (D1.1 GMAW, D9.1 Sheet Metal)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. One or two years welding experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Steel-toed safety shoes and safety glasses required
  2. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. at times, 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  3. Working with very large parts on a regular basis requiring manipulating these large parts by pushing/pulling
  4. Fitting together of large parts by use of sledgehammers and other tools
  5. Working off of platforms requiring frequent up and down the platform steps
