The Department of Transportation - Highways Division has one (1) urgent vacancy located in Wailuku/Kahului.

Repairs and overhauls a variety of heavy vehicles and/or construction equipment as a substantially full-time assignment; and performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Experience: FOUR (4) YEARS of progressively responsible automotive repair experience under a JOURNEY LEVEL MECHANIC. ONE (1) YEAR of this experience must have included heavy vehicle and/or construction equipment repair work.

Note: Repair work on a personal vehicle is not qualifying.

Lift and Carry: Applicants must be able to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck), with or without reasonable accommodation.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL): At the time of application, applicants must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), CLASS A WITH Endorsement N (Tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity), and have no restrictions relating to codes E (manual transmission), L (air brakes), and O (Class A tractor-trailer combination).

A valid out-of-state CDL may also be accepted. If you are selected for this position, you must transfer your out-of-state CDL to a Hawaii-issued CDL prior to your employment start date.
