In this job, you’ll serve as a Heavy Transportation Driver within the Supply Logistics organization. As a Heavy Transportation Driver, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine brightly!

  • Drives any size or type of heavy truck and tows any size or type of trailer with an unlimited combination of axles and/or maximum weight and/or height, width or length allowed by state or local regulations, to transport material, tools, equipment, and supplies. Loads and unloads all types of freight and construction equipment from truck and/or trailer.
  • Operates or directs others in operation of truck and trailer auxiliaries, and all types of material handling equipment to load and unload freight.
  • Performs duties of Construction Equipment Operator IV, as qualified, or helper when not hauling freight.
  • Loads truck and trailer to assure proper distribution of load. Secures loads to prevent shifting and covers load as required to prevent damage.
  • Performs vehicle inspections and makes minor or emergency repairs and adjustments.
  • Attaches coupling, safety chains, lights, brake connections and warning flags.
  • Signs paper for receipt and delivery of freight.
  • Prepares vehicle operator reports.

Qualifications - External

The essentials

  • Four or more years of experience as a Heavy Transportation Driver.
  • Valid California Class A Driver's License with a clean abstract and the ability to drive interstate.

The Preferred

  • Five years of flatbed and/or trailer experience.
  • Class A license that inclues these endorsements: Hazmats, Tankers, Doubles and Triples.
  • Knowledge of: Operation and maintenance of heavy truck and trailer equipment; Company policies and practices and Accident Prevention Rules for vehicle operation; traffic laws, permits and routes for trucking activities; trucker rigging methods and hand signals for material excavation and earth moving construction equipment for loading or unloading or work as qualified as Construction Equipment Operator IV; First Aid Procedures; and Safe Work Practices.
  • Ability to: Skillfully operate and maneuver truck and trailer equipment under a variety of traffic and terrain conditions; comply with traffic laws; follow authorized truck routes; make minor repairs and adjustments to trucking equipment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform heavy physical work; write legibly; give and interpret signals for operating material handling equipment; operate light construction equipment for on or off loading as required; and maintain a Class A Driver's License.

  • Work Hours: 5am-1:30pm M-F.
  • This position may require additional testing as part of the selection process.

Reference our Information Guides, for the following test(s): Edison EEI BCAB test 5206. Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
