Job summary

Contour Aviation in Smyrna, TN seeks a Heavy Maintenance Representative to act as the on-site liaison for heavy maintenance visits, aircraft transitions, and major repairs. You will coordinate with planning, engineering, and materials to ensure safe, compliant, on-time return to service.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist as Contour Aviation's on-site representative for heavy maintenance visits, aircraft transitions, conformity events, major repairs, and modification programs.
  • Review and stabilize visit work scope, contract requirements, materials, and anticipated engineering support.
  • Establish pre-induction milestones, critical path, reporting cadence, and delivery requirements.
  • Serve as primary provider contact; lead daily production reviews and report progress, risks, and recovery actions.
  • Monitor compliance with the approved work scope, maintenance program, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate Planning, Engineering, Materials, Quality, Records, and provider support to remove constraints.
  • Prepare post-visit reports and vendor scorecards; ensure timely disposition of actions.
  • Promote safety and escalate risks to leadership; perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Details
  • The starting annual salary for this position is between $90,000.00 and $100,000.00 based on your prior work experience.
  • When you work on a Contour observed holiday, you are eligible to receive holiday pay which is paid at 2 times your hourly rate. Specific information regarding Contour’s observed holiday policy is outlined in our Employee Handbook which will be provided to you during the onboarding process should you be selected for employment.

Summary of Essential Duties

The Heavy Maintenance Representative serves as Contour Aviation's on-site representative and primary point of contact for assigned heavy maintenance visits, aircraft transitions or conformity events, major repairs, and modification programs. The position integrates work scope, schedule, cost, materials, engineering, quality, records, and vendor performance to support a safe, compliant, on-time, and on-budget return to service.

The Representative provides an informed management presence at the maintenance provider while preserving the provider's responsibilities under its certificate. Inspection, Required Inspection Item (RII), maintenance release, or airworthiness release functions may be exercised only when the employee is qualified, current, and specifically authorized under applicable Contour manuals and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the 6- to 12-month heavy maintenance forecast and confirm provider capacity, labor, hangar space, tooling, materials, and specialized services.
  • Review and stabilize the visit work scope, planning package, contract requirements, company-furnished material, and anticipated engineering, inspection, and records support.
  • Establish pre-induction milestones, critical path, reporting cadence, approval limits, escalation paths, and aircraft delivery requirements.
  • Serve as the primary provider contact; lead daily production reviews and report progress, estimated return to service, open work, shortages, risks, decisions required, and recovery actions.
  • Monitor compliance with the approved work scope, contract, Contour's General Maintenance Manual and maintenance program, applicable technical data, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate Planning, Engineering, Materials, Quality, Records, Maintenance Control, Operations, and provider support to remove production constraints and obtain timely technical dispositions.
  • Monitor workmanship, materials, parts traceability, inspection requirements, work-card closure, non-routine records, engineering documents, and required system entries.
  • Evaluate non-routine proposals, labor estimates, materials, outside services, and out-of-pocket charges; approve or route expenditures within delegated authority.
  • Track milestones, budget, and cost-to-complete; review invoices and identify unsupported, duplicate, warranty, rework, or disputed charges.
  • Coordinate aircraft movements, operational checks, engine or APU runs, functional check flights, and delivery activities with authorized personnel.
  • Promptly escalation safety, quality, schedule, cost, or contractual risks to the MRO Director of Maintenance and support corrective or recovery actions.
  • Confirm closure or formal disposition of required work, open or deferred items, records exceptions, parts backorders, delivery conditions, final records, and invoice packages before aircraft acceptance.
  • Prepare a post-visit report and vendor scorecard covering schedule, cost, major findings, quality results, open actions, and recommended improvements
  • Promote safety within the workplace by adhering to all safety standards and reporting potential hazards.Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly, up to 100+ pounds occasionally (with assistance).
  • Perform work at elevated heights or in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding, and/or ladders of varying heights without assistance.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required.
  • Tolerance to noise, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Work Environment
  • Ability to travel up to 75%, including extended assignments at maintenance-provider locations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, irregular shifts, and overtime based on aircraft delivery requirements.
  • Work is performed in offices, hangars, on ramps, and aboard aircraft, with exposure to aircraft noise, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, weather, and moving equipment.
  • Must use required personal protective equipment and comply with all company and facility safety rules.
