Job summary

Contour is seeking a skilled Aircraft Technician to join our full-time maintenance team in Smyrna, TN. You will read diagrams, run diagnostics, perform routine and non-routine maintenance, and help ensure safety and quality in every task.

Eligible candidates receive benefits including health, vision, dental, 401(k) with up to 6% match, paid sick leave, vacation, NRSA travel, and holiday pay. Overtime paid at 1.5x, and a yearly step progression up to $43 per hour with a possible retention bonus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Read and utilize blueprints, maintenance manuals, ATA codes, illustrated parts catalogs and service bulletins.
  • Update maintenance and repair logs and run diagnostic tests.
  • Perform routine and some non-routine aircraft maintenance on engines and components.
  • Conduct inspections of aircraft systems and components for leaks, wear or damage.
  • Document maintenance procedures including component origin and condition.
  • Promote safety and coordinate repairs with supervisors and other mechanics.
  • Complete tasks within the allotted time frame to FAA standards.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance, plus short/long-term disability and voluntary life insurance (effective the first day of the month following your hire date)

Compensation Details
  • The starting hourly rate for this position is between $28.00 and $38.00 based on your prior work experience. Based on your performance, you are eligible to receive a step increase of $1.00 each year based on your pay anniversary date until you reach $43.00. Once you have reached the maximum pay rate and based on your performance, you are eligible to receive a retention bonus of up to $2,000.00 each year
  • When you work on a Contour observed holiday, you are eligible to receive holiday pay which is paid at 2 times your hourly rate. Specific information regarding Contour’s observed holiday policy is outlined in our Employee Handbook which will be provided to you during the onboarding process should you be selected for employment.
  • When you work in excess of 40 hours within the pay period, you are eligible for overtime, which is paid at 1.5 times your hourly rate

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and utilize blueprints, maintenance manuals, ATA codes, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins and other maintenance documents to troubleshoot and complete work assignments.
  • Updating maintenance and repair logs
  • Running diagnostic tests
  • Perform routine maintenance operations or repair of the aircraft including aircraft engines, power plant and /or aircraft components according to all specifications.
  • Perform hourly, daily, and monthly inspections and examinations of aircraft components, including de-icing, hydraulic systems and landing gear, for leaks, cracks, burned areas, foreign object damage, warping, distortions, missing segments, wear, breaks, or other issues.
  • Perform inspections during assembly of part and after repair or installation of component.
  • Documenting maintenance procedures to include component damage, component origin, and condition of component, components, or equipment.
  • Practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational process and procedures.
  • Performance of daily scheduled and non-scheduled inspections, maintenance, repair, and alterations of aircraft.
  • Troubleshoot defective aircraft systems and components in an effective manner.
  • Use gauges and diagnostic tests to detect malfunctions.
  • Use power and hand tools (e.g., cranes, grinders, wrenches, etc.)
  • Complete all tasks in the allotted time frame and to the quality standards of our company, our customers, and the FAA.
  • Promote safety within the workplace by monitoring others and yourself to guarantee all tasks are performed within the safety manual guidelines and communicate with other mechanics and supervisors to coordinate repairs and keep apprised of safety concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly, up to 100+ pounds occasionally (with assistance).
  • Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding, and/or ladders of varying heights without assistance.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required.
  • Tolerance to noise, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Work Environment
  • Airport ramp/warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to aircraft noise and vibrations when testing engines.
  • Fast-paced operational setting requires attention to safety, accuracy, and timeliness
Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Possess high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver license and good driving record.
  • Must understand, read, and write English.
  • Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Must have well-developed people skills and ability to work with a variety of personalities.
  • Able to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to handle interruptions and a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal delivered with tact and professionalism
  • Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and w illing to submit to and pass FAA and Company mandated random drug and alcohol tests.
  • Able to pass a 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks.
  • Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
  • Operational knowledge of laptop and desktop computers, working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, or related presentation programs. Operational knowledge of Outlook is required. Competency with internet navigation is also required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
