Position: Fine Grading Misc Equipment Operator/Laborer

Southern Utilities & Grading is actively seeking an experienced Fine Grading Misc Equipment Operator/Laborer. This position will be under the direction and supervision of a foreman or superintendent and will work with a team of other construction professionals. The job description is intended to give the employee a general sense of the responsibilities and expectations of the position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Willing and able to perform manual labor, including but not limited to shoveling curb, removing inlet protection, assisting pulling string line & checking grade, and spotting for trucks/equipment.
  2. Work alongside the motor grader utilizing equipment such as a wheel loader or skid steer to pickup and move bulk material.
  3. Run all necessary equipment to support the motor grader, including smooth drum roller, backhoe, trench roller, and mini excavator.
  4. Utilize Southern Utilities & Grading's core values in daily duties.
  5. Communicate professionally with everyone on site, including supervisors, teammates, contractors, clients, and vendor partners.
  6. Understand, interpret, and follow goals and directions from a foreman or superintendent.
  7. Maintain attendance at work, including presence during regular work hours or other schedule as assigned. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Perform other various assignments as assigned.

Experience & Requirements:

  1. Must be willing to work Monday through Friday 7 AM-5:30 PM, or other schedule as assigned, including Saturdays when needed.
  2. Must be willing to learn.
  3. Must be able to understand site goals and direction.
  4. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates.
  5. Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screening. Random drug screening at owner's discretion.
  6. Must have reliable transportation.
  7. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Essential Physical Demands of Work Environment:

  1. Able to stand/sit for extended periods, as well as stoop, kneel, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and crawl as required.
  2. Able to climb on and off equipment safely while maintaining three (3) points of contact.
  3. Able to lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies.
  4. Able to maintain constant alertness and situational awareness while on the job site.
  5. Able to perform job responsibilities outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.
  6. Able to communicate audibly and visually while exposed to varying levels of noise, dust, and substances commonly found on construction sites.
  7. Able to use hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting and carrying of construction materials.
  8. Able to lift 50-80 lbs on a regular basis.
  9. Any other physical demand the assigned duties require.

*Must be willing to travel. Upcoming jobs located in SC. Per Diem Package available. Pay based on experience.
