Job summary

RMS is seeking an experienced full‑time heavy lift crane operator for a project in Santa Teresa, NM. The role requires licensed crane operation with NCCCO LBC, and extensive experience on Liebherr LR 1600 and LR 1700 cranes, plus OSHA 10 and IUOE union membership.

You will perform safe lifting, crane setup, and precise rigging while adhering to state and federal regulations. A 7‑day‑a‑week per diem is included in compensation.

Qualifications

  • Current NCCCO LBC certification is required.
  • Minimum 5 years with Liebherr LR 1600 (Derrick Boom/Luffing Jib).
  • Minimum 5 years with Liebherr LR 1700 main boom.
  • Conventional lattice boom Class I license preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.
  • Must be a member of IUOE or join the union.

Responsibilities

  • Operate complex crane equipment safely and in line with safety policies.
  • Complete field tickets and submit to local branch; log any used equipment.
  • Record daily hours in payroll book and submit by 8:00 a.m. Monday.
  • Review crane models and service/operation manuals periodically.
  • Read and apply load charts and operate crane computer setup correctly.
  • Perform proper rigging and ensure safe lifting of loads.
  • Inspect crane and file daily/monthly inspection reports.

Job description

RMS is looking to add an experienced full‑time heavy lift crane operator for a project in Santa Teresa, NM.

Experience
  • Current crane operating license (NCCCO) LBC.
  • Experience operating Liebherr LR 1600 with Derrick Boom and Luffing Jib – minimum 5 years.
  • Experience operating Liebherr LR 1700 Main Boom – minimum 5 years.
  • Current New Mexico State License Conventional (Lattice Boom) Class I license preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Must be a member of the International Union Of Operating Engineers or join the union.
Compensation

Compensation is based on experience and the position includes a 7‑day‑a‑week per diem.

Summary

The operator ensures safety first, performs safe lifting of loads, properly sets up the crane, and maintains a customer‑focused approach. The operator follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicles and adheres to safety and environmental policies while performing the job task.

Responsibilities
  • Operate complex equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Complete Field Ticket and forward it to the local branch office; if other chargeable equipment was used, record it on the ticket.
  • Complete payroll book daily, recording hours worked and submit it to the local branch office no later than 8:00 a.m. on Mondays.
  • Periodically review assigned crane and other model cranes’ service and operation manuals.
  • Read, interpret, and calculate load percentage using crane owner and operation manual load charts.
  • Program the crane’s computer in the proper set‑up mode and set up the crane on location safely and professionally.
  • Perform proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of loads.
  • Inspect the crane and complete daily and monthly inspection reports before operating the vehicle; submit the reports to the local branch office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and maintain records.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
