Job description

We are seeking an energetic Heavy Equipment and Diesel Mechanic to join our La Porte, TX team, who can change direction at a moment’s notice to maintain all mobile equipment to include but not limited to repairs, diagnosis, and troubleshooting. Performs daily preventative maintenance as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Disassemble/Reassemble heavy and mobile equipment to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair.
  • Fabricate metal pieces and replace gaskets as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and test all equipment to ensure functionality .
  • Utilize propylene cutting rig.
  • Repair equipment using MIG and/or stick welding.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Enter data for repairs, diagnosis, preventative maintenance, inventory check out and time.
  • Complete daily work and training on computers.

What does it take to work at Clean Harbors?
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must pass Bennett Mechanical II test
  • Required Diesel Certification
  • 3+ years’ experience with heavy and mobile equipment repair
  • Air Conditioning Certification or equivalent required
  • Caterpillar and Kubota engine repair experience, certifications or education a plus!
  • Hydraulics Systems troubleshooting repair required
  • Must understand schematics to troubleshoot 12&24v heavy equipment systems
  • Required cutting rig (propylene cutting torch)
  • Valid Drivers’ License
  • Computer literate
