Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. is seeking a Haul Truck Driver to safely transport rock and overburden within a quarry environment in Merced, CA. You will operate heavy off-road trucks (60–70 tons) and assist in general quarry maintenance to ensure steady production.

Safety-conscious and dependable candidates who can follow MSHA regulations and maintain equipment will thrive in this role. Physical work in all weather and noisy conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 6 months to 1 year of related experience preferred; previous haul truck driver experience is a plus.
• Safety-conscious and able to adhere to MSHA regulations.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and loud environments.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate off-highway haul trucks to transport rock or overburden from pit to crusher or stockpile areas.
• Position the truck under loaders for filling and back into tight tipping areas or hoppers for unloading.
• Support loader production by breaking down surge piles and maintaining product piles as required by the site supervisor.
• Operate secondary equipment as needed to maintain site cleanliness (pit/yard loaders or street sweepers).
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections on haul trucks and related equipment.
• Identify and report mechanical malfunctions, structural defects, or site hazards to the supervisor.
• Perform minor maintenance and basic repairs (fluids, greasing, filters).
• Maintain cab and exterior cleanliness and support maintenance crew during downtime.
• Coordinate with loader operators via two-way radio to ensure efficient cycle times.
• Maintain daily logs of loads hauled, engine hours, and inspection results.
• Operate water truck duties.
