Job summary

CraneWorks, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Haul Truck Driver in Birmingham, AL to transport heavy construction and crane equipment between company locations and jobsites.

You will haul heavy equipment, including rough-terrain cranes, on detachable low-boy trailers, following safety and DOT/FMCSA guidelines. The role requires loading and securing oversized loads, planning routes, obtaining permits, and coordinating with dispatch.

Qualifications

• Proven experience hauling heavy equipment, especially RT cranes, on detachable low-boy trailers.
• Strong knowledge of loading, weight distribution, and securement practices.
• Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA regulations and oversize/overweight requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy-haul tractor-trailer combinations to transport equipment.
• Load, unload, and secure RT cranes and other heavy equipment per regulations and safety procedures.
• Inspect equipment, trailers, chains, binders, ramps, and other securement gear before and after loads.
• Plan routes considering load dimensions, weight, bridge restrictions, and permits.
• Obtain oversize/overweight permits as directed and maintain compliance with permits.
• Coordinate with dispatch and jobsite personnel regarding equipment movements and delivery schedules.
• Maintain logs, delivery documentation, and other required records.
• Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers and maintain a clean work area.
