Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Service, repair, adjust, and test all engines, motors, moving parts, and equipment.
  2. Inspect equipment or materials to identify problems or defects.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and determine necessary repairs.
  4. Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment.
  5. Use hydraulic jacks or hoists to raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment.
  6. Recondition and replace parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
  7. Troubleshoot operational issues and plan corrective actions.
  8. Install equipment to meet specifications.
  9. Complete all required paperwork.
  10. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  11. Perform preventative maintenance.
  12. Overhaul and test major components like engines and hydraulic systems.
  13. Install and repair special equipment.
  14. Perform minor welding and brazing.
  15. Maintain and service equipment.
  16. Change and repair tires.
Qualification Requirements
  1. Skilled mechanical work and troubleshooting abilities.
  2. Ability to interpret diagnostic test results.
  3. Proficiency with various test equipment and shop tools.
  4. Basic care and maintenance skills.
  5. Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs., with frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  6. Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and balancing.
  7. Work in varying weather conditions, noise levels, and dust.
  8. Possibility of working in construction environments and exposure to hazardous waste.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in heavy equipment mechanical maintenance.
  • ASE certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification within 18 months.
  • CDL preferred; valid driver’s license and clean record required.
  • Knowledge of maintaining autos, trucks, and emergency vehicles.
  • Understanding of gasoline and diesel engine operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and adhere to safety standards.
  • Availability for overtime and weekend work during peak seasons.
  • Maintain punctual attendance.
