Harnish Group Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our New & Used Shop in Billings, MT. You will diagnose, repair, and service Caterpillar equipment, including engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems, using CAT diagnostic tools.

We value strong troubleshooting, planning, and cost-control abilities, with a requirement for a 2-4 year vocational education or equivalent experience and a valid driver’s license. CAT dealership experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires 2-4 year vocational/technical schooling or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook).
• Ability to stand up to eight hours daily and perform twisting, bending, squatting, stooping and kneeling.
• Experience with CAT equipment or CAT dealership is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including disassembly and reassembly.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Utilize CAT diagnostics and repair tooling; rigging and blocking equipment as needed.
• Plan and organize work with focus on controlling job costs.
• Investigate and analyze problems to recommend effective solutions.

Job description

We have an opportunity asHeavy Equipment Technicianin our New & Used Shop at our Billings, MT Branch. Do you like to solve technical problems? Are you effective at troubleshooting?

Hourly Range: $29.95-43.25 per hour (Based on skills and experience)

• Diagnosing and repairing of Caterpillar equipment including removing, repairing, assembling and installing.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging and blocking equipment.
• Planning and organizing skills with a particular emphasis on controlling job costs.
• Investigate, analyze and identify problem in order to make recommendations for eliminating the problem.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A graduate of a 2-4 year vocational technical school training institution or equivalent experience is required.
• A valid driver's license will be required.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, pressure washers in a safe manner.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook).
• This role requires the ability to stand up to eight hours per day and includes twisting, bending, squatting, sitting stooping and kneeling.
• Efficiency in completing paperwork.
• Experience working at a Caterpillar (CAT) dealership or with CAT products is ideal.
