Job summary

EJ Equipment Inc. in Illinois is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team.

This full-time, hourly position involves servicing a range of heavy equipment and vehicles, including trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other machinery, reporting to the Service Manager. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues with tools, document service reports, and communicate clearly with customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and equipment.
• Must have own tools and a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles, such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, and brake repairs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Complete necessary repairs and replacements on engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct thorough inspections of equipment and vehicles to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate and detailed service records and reports.
• Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, providing updates on repair progress and recommendations for preventative maintenance.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols in the shop and on job sites.
• Stay current with industry advancements and changes in technology.
• Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

You will report directly to the Service Manager.
