Job summary

Baranko Companies seeks a Heavy Equipment Technician to support the Shop Maintenance team in Dickinson. You will keep heavy equipment running on project sites and in the shop, applying technical expertise to diagnose issues and perform timely repairs.

You will inspect, maintain, and repair engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems, while keeping accurate records and coordinating parts inventory. A Class B license with Airbrake endorsement is required, along with own basic tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Completion of a mechanic apprenticeship/internship program or equivalent training.
• Ability to work in the field, in all types of weather conditions and be available for overtime work as needed.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections on heavy equipment to detect and diagnose issues with engines, transmissions, or hydraulic systems.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans for all heavy equipment on site.
• Take apart engines and transmissions to repair or replace parts.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and order new parts as needed.
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

Job description

As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be an essential part of the Shop Maintenance team at Baranko Companies. You'll play a key role in keeping our heavy equipment running smoothly to support ongoing projects. This hands-on position provides an opportunity to apply your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to contribute to the overall success of the company.

RESPONSIBLITIES

• Conduct inspections on heavy equipment, such as scrapers, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and other heavy equipment to detect and diagnose issues with their engines, transmission, or hydraulic systems.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans for all heavy equipment on site, ensuring that each machine is tuned to the manufacturer's specifications.
• Take apart engines and transmissions to perform repairs or replace malfunctioning parts.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, perform regular stock checks, and order new parts as needed.
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including work orders, inspection reports, and any other relevant documents.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Completion of a mechanic apprenticeship/internship program or equivalent training.
• Ability to work in the field, in all types of weather conditions and be available for overtime work as needed.
• Ability to work in the shop if needed.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with industry-standard maintenance and diagnostic tools.
• Must have your own basic tools to conduct Field Technician work.
• Must pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Class B with the Airbrake endorsement
• Must be 18 years or older to be considered for this position.
